Frisomat delivers buildings to Belgian BDC International in Cuba

5 industrial Frisomat buildings in Mariel investment zone

Frisomat, internationally active in the field of modular industrial buildings, has delivered 5 industrial buildings to the Belgian BDC International in Cuba. “This is an important project because it puts Frisomat on the map in and around Cuba”, says Bob Desmet, Export Manager. “Together with BDC International, we want to further consolidate our presence as steel builder in this sub-region.”

Mariel, Cuba’s highly coveted brand new economic development zone with favourable trade conditions, has recently become the operating base of BDC International. The Belgian group invested in the area with 5 new buildings for two of its companies, BDC Log and BDC Tec.

For BDC Log, which among other things specialises in container and dry bulk shipping, Frisomat delivered a state-of-the-art logistics centre, complete with office and practical work space. On the same site, four buildings were delivered to BDC Tec, a technical service provider in pharmaceutical production, for the production and storage of electronic thermometers and switchboards.

The entire complex represents 1500 m² of industrial buildings, and provides employment to 100 people. All 5 buildings fully comply with Cuban building regulations and local climatic conditions (i.e. hurricane-proof). All halls could be put into service within less than one year.
