Combined production, storage & office facility and two storage units
In Dakar, Senegal, the Sénégalaise des Filières Alimentaires (SFA) – a social business – is developing an inclusive value chain for the production and marketing of rice. Supported by the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation, the SFA encourages the production of quality rice by small farmers in the Senegal River Valley. Thus contributing to the self-sufficiency goal of the country.
Coupled buildings for rice processing
First the SFA ordered 2 coupled buildings (2,250 m²) – to be installed near the great Pink Lake –
combining a production and storage area with offices. Inside these buildings the paddy of local farmers is turned into white rice, then marketed under the Terral brand on the Senegalese market. Together the two buildings account for a width of 50 meters. They both have a length of 45 meters, and 3 large sliding doors in total for easy loading and unloading.
Two more buildings for storage of rice bags
As the project is booming, the SFA recently ordered two additional buildings at Frisomat. These units, of 810 m² each, will serve to store rice bags. Further evolving at this pace, the SFA will surely positively impact (read: decrease) the large import – still 75% – of rice consumed in Senegal at this time. We are happy that our buildings are part of this social project.
